THE ASSESSMENT
What is the test like and how long will it take?
Depending on your objectives, a Sub Maximal or Peak VO2 assessment will be performed. We will measure your unique response to exercise (whether you are burning fat or sugar) at different exercise intensities. It's simple to perform and requires only eight to ten minutes to complete. Please plan for about 1 hour total for the pretest, test, program and explanation of the results. Assessments may be performed on any aerobic equipment such as bike, treadmill or elliptical.
THE RESULTS
What did VO2 test tell us about your response to exercise? How hard you should work out, what you are burning at?
You get a complete report showing your Peak VO2, Anaerobic Threshold, fitness level and caloric burn rate. Correct heart rate training zones, frequency, intensity and duration to achieve targeted results, your unique response to exercise intensity.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
The Resting Test
How many calories can a person consume without gaining weight? To effectively manage "Calories In" and "balance the Energy Equation", it is important to know an individual's daily caloric requirements. Seventy percent of the total calories a person burns each day are composed of the calories needed for essential life processes as measured by the Resting Metabolic Rate or RMR. The remaining thirty percent of calories burned come from physical activity such as digestion, activities of daily living and exercise.
WHY MEASURE RMR?
Everyone's metabolism and caloric needs are different. Your body's metabolism is affected by:

Genetics
- Age
- Gender
- Height
- Body Composition
- Activity Level
- Other physical and environmental factors

MEASURED RMR VS. ESTIMATIONS
When RMR is calculated by estimations it is subject to significant error – as much as 20% to 25%.* This can lead to an inappropriate nutritional plan for your client.
The "gold standard" for determining RMR is through indirect calorimetry using a metabolic analyzer which measures both VO2 and VCO2 as provided by the New Leaf Active Metabolic Assessment System.
